Serums and ampoules
Serums and ampoules manufactured by Celcode in Singapore: concentrated actives for brands, professional ampoules for clinics, and stability and packaging notes.
Serums carry concentrated actives in a fluid base designed for delivery in controlled doses, and ampoules are single-dose or high-strength serums used in professional treatments and intensive retail routines. Celcode develops both as custom or ready formulations, with the base, pH and packaging chosen to keep sensitive actives - vitamin C systems, peptides, growth factors, retinoids - stable over the product's shelf life.

Formulation considerations
- Concentration and dose. Serums carry the highest active levels in a routine; the level is set where supplier data and the product’s own substantiation support it, within regulatory limits.
- Stability. Vitamin C, peptides, growth factors and retinoids each need their own protection - form, pH, antioxidants and packaging. See testing.
- Base. Serum bases range from watery to lightly emulsified or oil-based; the choice follows the actives’ solubility and the intended feel (textures and formats).
- Layering. Serums are used under moisturisers and sunscreen, so absorption speed and finish are sampled carefully.
- Combinations. Multi-active serums are common; compatibility and pH are checked for the combination, not only for each active.
Packaging
Dropper bottles for daily serums; airless pumps for air-sensitive actives; opaque or amber glass for light-sensitive actives; sealed glass ampoules for single doses; treatment-size ampoules for professionals. See packaging and branding.
Testing and compliance
Serums are stability-tested in their packaging with the actives tracked, controlled for microbial quality under the GMP quality system, and notified to the HSA before sale in Singapore. Claims are worded within cosmetic scope at the regulatory check.
How to brief a serum or ampoule
State the concern, the hero active if you have one in mind, retail or professional use, the texture and the packaging. Choose “Serum or ampoule” (or “Professional ampoule” under professional treatment products) in the product brief.
Frequently asked questions
What makes a serum different from an essence or a cream?
A serum is built to deliver actives at higher concentration in a fluid base with little emollient load, so it absorbs quickly and can be layered. An essence is lighter and more watery; a cream carries emollients and occlusives for barrier support and feel.
What is a professional ampoule?
A concentrated serum supplied in single-dose or treatment-size ampoules for use by clinics and salons during procedures and facials, or sold as an intensive course. Celcode formulates ampoules to synergise with serums and essences in the same range.
How are sensitive actives kept stable in a serum?
Through the choice of active form (for example a stabilised vitamin C system or an encapsulated peptide), the base and pH, antioxidant partners, and packaging that limits air and light - airless pumps, opaque droppers or sealed ampoules. Stability testing confirms the result.
